During my sophomore year at Earlham College, I lived in Woodman House, a college-owned Victorian
house near campus. The theme was "community house"; that is, we got to live off campus
if we came up with fun activities for the student body.
So, in the fall of 1990, I got three hundred fifty dollars from the Office of Student Life to host
a haunted house. I quickly spent the $350.00 on plywood and a fog machine; to
that, I added a week of my life and the labor of as many volunteers as I could
scrape together.
Also, I added a complete disregard for human safety or well-being.
The result, in my opinion, was the best haunted house East Central Indiana has
ever seen. Please come, won't you, and see it? Right this way!
